Going from non-populated rural area car shopping to urban car shopping is fun. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I’ve just sent her a link to Autotrader set up with her wants (under 150k kilometres, under $9k, automatic, within 25 km of her university, sedan or hatchback) and told her just to click and browse it every once in a while. So far, she likes a 2009 Lancer and a 2013 Forte. Which is better than the Sentras and Versas she was looking at, I guess.

If she was willing to take a manual, she could get a brand new Micra for 10k

With no options.

Sell her your snot rocket.

She doesn’t want to drive stick, doesn’t want a Ford, and would lowball me.

Trying to help non enthusiast car shop is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring.
Like, just buy a car it doesn’t matter. Like buying a fridge, just find one you like the looks of, and hope you can afford it. Just watch out for the damn interest rates

Bingo.

Holy shit, I would fuck up a Topaz. I unironically love those.
![]() 07/19/2019 at 23:37 |

I dunno, that Topaz looks like a future Radwood winner.

For $1000 CAD, it could be yours!

Yeah, a Sentra is probably better still. When you get that old in the compact car world, you’re losing current items like Bluetooth audio streaming & calling, as well as a backup camera. A screen could suit that need, yeah, but why bother with the extra $500 to get one installed?
![]() 07/19/2019 at 23:41 |
|
I’d go at most 500 USD for one honestly
![]() 07/19/2019 at 23:42 |

The Topaz was mostly a joke.

I’m talking about the Lancer and the Forte.
I shop for people not super interested in cars a lot. That resulted in a 2018 Canyon for Dad and a 2019 Rogue for my sister.

Backup camera isn’t a necessity, bluetooth is nice, yeah, but it’s something we all didn’t grow up with. Yeah, people don’t like dongles, but she’s willing to compromise with a $15 dongle than paying an extra $2000 (at least).

I bet we know someone who would part with a Forte. Is A/C on her list?

Sure is!

Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia will be your friends on this search. Good luck!

While good for her, that is unfortunate for our favorite claim s adjuster.

She also doesn’t want to learn how to drive manual, although CoFL probably has the best treated Forte in the world.
![]() 07/20/2019 at 00:17 |

Given the page views of Oppo, he probably also has the best known Forte in the world.
![]() 07/20/2019 at 00:20 |

Of course, it could also be that 90% of Oppo’s page views come from the same 100 people constantly pressing F5 throughout the work day.

What are you talking about?

Coworker bought a used Micra. Top trim for 9K.

Not a bad deal.

She sounds awful. Maybe she needs a Versa after all.

She’s the opposite of me: doesn’t care about cars, likes math, is smart. I know whatever she buys she’ll hold onto until it dies. So I’m hoping it can be a little less miserable.

Yout are smart, or you'd also be driving around in a miserable little shitbox. Just point her toward a Honda Civic and let her go on her mundane way.

I think, on that list, the Forte is the best option for basic transportation. We have a 2015 she bought new and it’s been nothing but a good car. It’d likely be the most trouble free choice of those listed.
![]() 07/20/2019 at 08:47 |

I agree. I think given the requirements a fairly recent Forte or Accent would be good choices..

At this would I would love a redwood ready Tempo, complete with the all plastic interior. Some cars pretended the interior had other materials in it, not the Tempo..

Nibby will be disappointed
